FAMILY WORKSHOP: FAVORITE ANIMALS

Watch Sesame Street: Elmo's Animal Adventures and then join us for a special workshop where you can learn about your favorite animals. Create and design your own favorite animal mask to take home. No reservation required and space is limited.

You know how to play the game but do you know how the game is played? Go beyond what's on your screen and explore the inner workings of the PlayStation® and PlayStation®2 consoles and Dual Shock2 controller. Learn what makes these devices uniquely designed for video game playing and how they differ from your computer. Take it apart yourself as museum staff guide you through the process piece by piece. No reservation required and space is limited. Best suited for ages 8 and up.

Join us for a special workshop where you can use technology as a learning tool for your child. Children explore shapes, colors, and letters while being introduced to some of the basic functions of a computer. Bring your drawings to life and explore some of the earliest methods for creating the moving image through traditional optical toys. Used to create the illusion of motion, devices like the thaumatrope and phenakistoscope are considered the predecessors to the modern animated film. Make your own optical toys to take home.
